Bill Cunningham New York is streaming on Netflix, go watch it. I meant to see it in the theater, but now I’m glad I didn’t, because it made me cry. I’m the kind of person who feels nostalgic longing for something I can’t ever see or experience, so this kind of documentary pushes all my sappiest buttons. Every time I feel like I’m done with New York—and this happens a lot recently—I need to remind myself that I’m not done with New York, just my New York. I was really born too late.
Ooooo…yes! Everyone watch this. I did get a chance to see it in a theater, and it was great, but you’re not missing much by just watching it all cozy like at home. I’ve actually watched it two more times on Netflix (that and The September Issue, which I think I will watch annually until, well, the day I die).
